Cost Saving Airline Travel Tips

From cost savings to convenience tips this article should be right up your street if you’re looking for a quick reminder on how to maximise your forthcoming holiday or business trip.

  • Fares can vary based on the schedule of a flight, so check if you could make some savings by booking at another time or day. Those scheduled too early in the morning and late in the evening are generally cheaper than those during regular work hours.
  • Check if it is cheaper to purchase a roundtrip fare, or two single tickets (i.e. there and back) at the same time. Often doing so can get you a significant discount.
  • Book your tickets a month or two in advance. Some airlines offer cheaper fares for those who purchase their tickets well in advance. So if you know when you’re flying try to book up early.
  • Research where you’re going. If you know people who’ve been there, ask about their experiences and any travel tips they might have for travelling there.
  • For those who can’t avoid bringing more than your hand luggage, some airlines have separate offers for luggage. So find out which one might suit your needs the best. Not having to check any luggage in is always a time saver and if a special privelage or offer allows you to do this, you should grab it.
  • Travel light by ditching the essentials. Unless you need a special kind of soap or shampoo that you absolutely can’t buy anywhere else, it’s always best to just leave the basics toiletries and grooming essentials at home. Buy new ones once you get to your destination as most destinations have everything these days and if you’re travelling with hand luggage only, well most liquids aren’t allowed in your hand luggage anyway.
  • When looking at so called low cost fares, check what the asterisk means besides the price. Often, these airlines advertise prices without including taxes and other fees. You might be surprised to find that what you thought was cheaper is actually almost the same price as a regular flight on another airline. One whom maybe known for offering a better flight experience and/or service. So always double check the final cost.
  • Know your price range and requirements then call a booking agent asking them to recommend you the best flight they have. These guys are experts at selecting flights and often have access to details and offers that the regular guy will never see.

We hope you enjoyed these travel tips, we’ll be bringing some more next month.
